The 20-minute youth hockey warmup playlist

A good warmup playlist isn't a pile of hype songs — it's an order. The first few minutes are loose skating, the middle is drills, and the last song should end right as the teams line up. Here's a 20-minute build you can copy for any level.

    Minutes 0-6: skate-around openers

Steady tempo while the team gets loose. Nothing that peaks yet.

    • Shipping Up to Boston — Dropkick MurphysThe hockey warmup standard for a reason.
    • Blitzkrieg Bop — RamonesThe 'hey-ho' chant gets the bench going.
    • Song 2 — Blur
    • The Hockey Song — Stompin' Tom ConnorsParents in the stands will sing it.

    Minutes 6-14: drill music

Bigger energy for passing lines and shooting drills.

    • Thunderstruck — AC/DC
    • Kernkraft 400 (Sport Chant Remix) — DropgunInstrumental — clean by default.
    • Radioactive — Imagine Dragons
    • Centuries — Fall Out Boy
    • Can't Hold Us (clean version) — Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Minutes 14-20: the last song before puck drop

One big track that ends as the goalies get scraped in.

    • Enter Sandman — MetallicaThe build times perfectly to the final horn of warmups.
    • Seven Nation Army — The White StripesThe riff becomes a crowd hum.
    • Chelsea Dagger — The FratellisSave it if it's also your goal song.
    • Eye of the Tiger — Survivor

How to run it from the bench

    • Line the songs up in order before you get to the rink — you won't have time to search on the ice.
    • Twenty minutes is roughly five to six full songs, so a short queue is enough.
    • Use clean or instrumental versions; rink speakers carry into the lobby.
    • Keep the volume under coaching voices during drills, then bring it up for the last song.
    • Reuse the same playlist all season. Players start timing their warmup to it.
